Hello my friends from Silveridge!<\/h3>\n

\n Can you believe that the summer is almost over? Already I see tints of red and orange on the maple trees. This is my sign that summer is coming to a close and my thoughts start turning south to my Silveridge home. I hope that your summer was filled with pleasant memories spent with family and friends. I have to confess that I am a Facebook follower. I have enjoyed seeing many of your family photos and trips you have taken over the summer. I would like to do a section in my Oct\/Nov newsletter highlighting some of your trips. Please email me by October 1st at sractdr@iiiaz.com if you would like me to share your special summer excursion. Include a photo and where it was taken.\n <\/p>\n

\n Along with my message is the 2017-2018 Ticket Order List. Have I got a line up for you!! It is always my hope and prayer that you will love all the entertainment along with the good food that Chef Jerry prepares just for you. Head kitchen volunteer coordinator, Tracy Gagnier is already scheduling our hard working kitchen volunteers. Sharon Beatty, my new assistant and I will look forward to receiving your ticket order lists via email, mail or in person. Remember that we will start receiving and processing your orders when we open on October 2nd.\n <\/p>\n

\n * Please fill out one ticket order list individually (or couple). You may send in a group of lists together enclosed with all the lists. Make sure to write your name, phone & lot #, table preferences and \u201cseated with\u201d if you want to sit with a group. We try our best to give you the seats of your choice \u2013 or at least in the same area. Please enclose a check for the amount owed made out to Silveridge Activities. Ticket orders requests will be taken in order that they are received. Please do not email orders until October 2nd. You may mail orders in to arrive by October 2nd. No orders will be pulled until then.\n <\/p>\n

\n Thank you for your understanding. You can also buy tickets when you return. Don\u2019t wait too long as some events sell out. Feel free to call us if you have any questions at 480-373-7700. Thank you in advance for buying tickets and all your support and enthusiasm for our activities!\n <\/p>\n

DOUG’S PROGRESS REPORT FOR AUGUST<\/h3>\n

“It either tells me, The Job is Done or Get to Work”<\/h4>\n

\n It’s been three months now that Doug Walker has been working six-day weeks, getting the new HDTV and Internet service up and running. His efforts are paying off. He says of those year-rounders who have the new television service,\n <\/p>\n

\n “Everyone is ecstatic with the picture. And once I get someone set up, it\u2019s beautiful \u2013 I haven\u2019t a single person call me to come back and fix a problem.”
\n
\n Doug credits some of that success to his latest high-tech accessory, a $3000 signal tester. “I plug it in and it either tells me that the job is done, or get to work.”\n <\/p>\n

\n (Based on his experience with year-round residents, about one-quarter had issues with the wiring from the pedestal to the unit or the wiring inside the home that needed to be addressed to insure a quality HD signal.)\n <\/p>\n

\n The big challenge for the last few weeks has been getting ready for all the folks who’ll be coming back this fall, especially those in RV spaces. “Those RVs and mobile homes have some challenging wiring,” he told us. “The splitter inside most RVs, the one used for the antenna, can have issues passing high-definition signals.” Plus, he found plenty of issues with the old wiring:\n <\/p>\n

\n “Some service drops had four splices in 40 feet of cable, and I also found 2-way splitters buried underground. So I wanted to fix everything and certify that every cable on every space was ready to go. I realized how much work I had to do when I picked ten spaces to test and seven of them didn’t pass. I replaced approximately 2400 feet of service-drop cable. And when each space was complete, I attached a tag on the cable attached to the power meter.”\n <\/p>\n

\n Going forward, Doug has focused on getting ready for the new internet service. He sent us photos of the work to lay new cable in underground conduit.\n <\/p>\n

ON SCHEDULE?<\/h3>\n

\n When I asked about the schedule for the new internet service, Doug sighed and said, “We need for Cox to get the fiber optic cable to us. They were held up by having to get permits from the City of Mesa. Those permits have been issued and I hope everything will be ready by the end of September, but then again, it all depends on Cox. I feel like a sailboat with no wind \u2014 I’m just waiting.”\n <\/p>\n

\n But Doug brightened when he added, “You can report that everything on our end will be done within two weeks. Everything will be ready and it will be tight. We will be set to go.”\n <\/p>\n
